Today in class Kaley and I were quite busy. We went back and made changes (spelling errors, 6x6 rule changes, and more info.) to our slides. Then we used NoodleTools for the first time. This was an interesting process. First we made an account, then created a new sources page. NoodleTools, has you find all of the information you need in order to cite the work you have used. After this, NoodleTools takes all of the information that you have given it and formats it the correct way for citing.
I really like NoodleTools, it took everything in a simple and easy way and cited it so we didn't need to worry about having to citing the work by ourselves. NoodleTools put everything together for us, so Kaley and I can now just "plop" the citations into our presentation. There was some confusion about where to find some information, or how to cite a picture, but that was not NoodleTools' fault. Some websites just don't give easy access to some information, but this is just something you have to deal with and get past. Overall, NoodleTools will be in my future. This made everything super easy to cite, I wish I had known about it sooner because this would have helped a lot with past presentations. There was no stress with this tool and I would recommend it to anyone that can get a subscription! Today in class Kaley and I finished adding images to our presentation. We also went back and cited where we got the photos from. Here are some screenshots of some slides that are finished:
Nothing about today was difficult or confusing to follow at all. All of the resources we needed were given to us and we learned more information to help make our presentation look a flawless as it could ever be!
Today overall was good. Kaley and I were able to get quite a bit done in order to finish the overall slides part. I look forward to using the masking tool in the future as it will help to create a good atmosphere and sharpness of my projects. So today was a productive day! Today, Kaley and I finished up the main stages of our project. We created we each slide, put basic information on each slide, and added a few pictures. We still have to add some more pictures to the presentation, but that is easy enough to do. Our slides include: what should be apart of your digital footprint, what shouldn't be apart of your digital footprint, being genuine, avoiding negativity, being articulate, nothing can truly be deleted, and colleges and jobs look at your digital footprint. We included topics to touch upon on each slide, but did not go into detail about each topic yet. We will go into detail when we record our voices for the presentation. This was mainly what we did today in class.
Today in class we finished our Popplet and began to start making our project in Google Slides. We only got as far as choosing the theme, putting the title (How do you make a positive digital footprint?) and our names. Once we finished our Popplet, we learnt about how to make a good presentation that catches the eye of your audience. There were many things that made so much sense I was surprised I didn't already know these things.
So basically today in class we... finished our Popplet, learned about how to make a good presentation, and started to make our presentation in Google Slides. Today in class we went over what we had done the last time we had class. Turns out everyone in my class choose Tommy Williams to be accepted into their college. After this, we were told that we were going to start a project. My partner, Kaley and I choose to do our project on how to make a positive digital footprint. We started to plan out our project in Popplet, a new tool to us...
We learned how to use Popplet in a way to help us map out our presentations. If you double click, you get a bubble like thing that you can change the color of and write in. From here you can make more writing bubbles and connect them to each other. So Kaley and I choose to organize our Popplet by main idea, to side ideas, to what was going to be in each side. This was easy and simple to do, but it will definitely help to complete our project on a positive digital footprint. Nothing was challenging today, but we definitely need to gather all of the information together to make the presentation come together. Since, we are not at this point yet though, it is not an issue. In the future, this will be extremely helpful. It will be helpful because I can grantee this is not the last project I will ever have to do. So, thinking into the future I will be able to use Popplet to make my projects more organized!
Imagine you are a college admissions officer, who do you choose to accept into your college? This is exactly what we did today. In class we compared two very eligible candidates and had to choose which one to accept. Markus Sanders, is a kind and sensitive person but, he also "needs to get a life and care more about his future." Tommy Williams on the other hand, created a support group for special needs students and care about his family but, he had two car accidents in one year and took it as a joke. We analyzed, the two candidates and choose which one had the better digital footprint. After deep thought, I choose to accept Tommy Williams. I choose him because he had better qualities a college would want than Markus Sanders. He founded an amazing group for special needs students, he is a leader, and he shows that he is very involved with his family. So overall, in class today we were able to get a feel for what a good digital footprint should look like.
Today in class we learned about our digital footprint and how to be a good digital citizen. First we went over to a website called Symbaloo and completed multiple activities on there. To start we wrote the definitions of a digital citizenship and a digital footprint. The definitions were:
Digital Citizenship- navigating the digital world safely, responsibly, and ethically Digital Footprint- All of the information about a person that can be found online After that we watched a short video on you digital footprint. This basically say that everything that you put online can be searched, copied, and shared. Then, we watched another short video about how to be a good citizen online and how colleges can find you online as well as others. This video was mostly about Facebook but, it could be applied to other social media platforms. Finally, we read two articles about how to be a good digital citizen/how colleges and jobs look at your social media. In this I learned many things. |
